handmade marmalades & jams
NALOU handmade marmalades and jams were first produced by Antonios Rombakis and his wife in 1952, in very small quantities intended mainly for consumption by the family and friends.
Shortly the authentic recipe was loyally followed for the production of additional flavours, aiming at a wider but always demanding range of customers. The exclusive use of fresh fruits, the hand made production process together with the absence of any artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives maintained the exceptional quality of our products. Later the business was passed to Antonia Rombakis, second family generation, who succeeded in expanding NALOU handmade marmalades and jams gaining enthusiastic customers in Greece as well as abroad.
In the years that passed, modern developments in food processing together with tradition and accumulated experience, were incorporated in the production line ensuring total quality control of the final product. However, these developments did not affect the old traditional recipe, the production remains hand made, fresh fruits are exclusively used while any artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives are excluded.
Today, more than 50 years later, NALOU handmade marmalades and jams, in the hands of the third family generation, remain dedicated to the initial vision and philosophy: products of excellent quality and absolute respect to the consumer.
the sweet story
NALOU hand made marmalades and jams were first introduced to the market of Athens in 1952. The same traditional recipe is followed up to our days.
The fundamental reason, which guarantees the excellent quality of NALOU handmade marmalades and jams, is the exclusive use of fresh fruit and the traditional preserving method as well as the production in small quantities.
Obviously no additional colouring, flavourings, or preservatives are used. Fruits are chosen at the best season to ensure the ideal stage of ripeness. Cleaning of fruit and cutting them in pieces of the right size constitute the first stage of a careful process ensuring quality.
Then, the fresh fruit in combination with the correct proportion of sugar are boiled in open saucepans, thus promoting the rich aroma, the vivid colour and the distinctive flavour of the marmalade or jam. Small quantities guarantee an effective control of the production process.
In the final stage, the marmalade or jam is inspected for its quality and is then poured into jars.
We believe that the above process ensures the best quality of marmalades and jams, which constitutes the exclusive objective of our company. It was never a thought to change the production process or to compromise quality for commercial reasons.
